Visit to Coranderrk

Tuesday 31 October, 2017

To: MEMBERS of  Nillumbik Reconciliation Group : A SPECIAL INVITATION

Jacqui Wandin and her cousin Kim Wandin have invited us to visit Coranderrk Reserve, Barak Lane, Healesville on Tuesday 31 October 2017. This is a unique opportunity to meet descendants of families who lived on Coranderrk and see this significant place of Wurundjeri heritage. There are plans to  recreate replicas of original buildings and to relocate John Green’s church building which is currently stored at Gulf Station. Experience first hand the story of Coranderrk with the traditional owners.

Meet there at 11 am for walk and talk with Jacqui and Kim, damper, lemon myrtle tea, and BYO lunch, finishing 2pm.

Donation to Coranderrk preservation: $15

Jacqui and Kim are both related to William Barak and Robert Wandin, leaders of Coranderrk in the times of  Rev John Green and Coranderrk’s most productive and successful period. Jacqui is daughter of Allan Wandin who lives on Coranderrk and is a senior Wurundjeri Elder. They are passionate in working to preserve Wurundjeri culture and heritage.
